Begun early '98 Red Dye #2 are a heavy, post-generic band, delivering
a mix of heavy groove mush and atmospheric moodiness. Like all stubborn
children, it was born of conflict and pain, suffering numerous line-up
changes, before the current line up gelled and new noises ensued. The
line-up consists of Mark, on finger-style alternapathy, Michael,
on groove noise, and Steve with his hard right hand.
Their music has appeared in several underground movies, Mailbox Mayhem (1998) and The Morning After (1999). In 1999 they put together a DIY, enhanced-mode CD - "Live EP". All files on the disk are available for free here. Their influences are that of their environ. That is, dealing with idiots, existing in a world they had no say in creating and interacting with society at large. The music they like, however, includes The Melvins, Faith No More, Dead Kennedys, Sonic Youth, The Exploited, Flat Stanley, Mark of Cain, The Beasts of Bourbon, Mr Bungle, Loving Tongue... but generally anything. They tend to be heavier and more dynamic than the next guys, who wear black and don't smile. RD#2 can be found gigging the local dives in Adelaide, South Australia. Sounds
